Mozart: the Final Works. What really happened!

Mozart: the Final Works. What really happened!

Presented by Live & Learn Bethesda at Live & Learn Bethesda

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791) is recognized as one of the greatest geniuses the world has ever known, and yet many aspects of his life have been shrouded in misinformation and bogus mysticism. The real Mozart is to be found in the extraordinary final decade (especially the last 5 years!) of his life in Vienna.  Recent scholarship has shredded the hooey that has passed as serious commentary on the life and artistry of this genius. This class, based on the most serious musicological discoveries of recent years, will take steps toward unveiling “The Real Mozart.” This Mozart is only to be found in the final years in Vienna and the discovery of the true Mozart reveals layers of genius which had not been previously apprehended. The tabloid questions surrounding Mozart’s life such as “Was he murdered?”; “Did a ghost commission the Requiem?”; “Was it true only his faithful dog went to his funeral?” will be fully addressed and put into perspective. This class, fully and copiously illustrated with Mozart’s music, will simply overwhelm the listener with the true, pure genius of one of the greatest artistic souls ever to breathe life into works of art.
