Annual Fine Arts & Crafts Gift Show

Annual Fine Arts & Crafts Gift Show

Presented by Sandy Spring Museum at Sandy Spring Museum

Shop locally at the Sandy Spring Museum starting on Black Friday and continue through all of December!  The annual Resident Artist’s Fine Arts & Crafts Holiday Gift show will feature one-of-a-kind handmade jewelry, quilts, pottery, and other fine arts and crafts. You’re sure to find that perfect little something for everyone this holiday season!

Among the talented artists you will meet in Sandy Spring are Sue Garten who fires glass on pure silver, copper, iron and steel – vitreous enamels.  She creates wall pieces, vessel forms, small sculptures and occasionally jewelry. Eun Ju Lee is a silversmith who creates sculptural jewelry and small wall hangings. Loretta Kaneshige is a jewelry artist and often teaches workshops in metalsmithing and jewelry making, from her Catch a Dream Studio. Belinda Lee Russell is a practicing poet, painter and picture book maker. Her pen, brush and ink style is fluid and organic. Her work, essentially, is a meditation on how the world reconciles with itself in ways both big and small. Patricia Kessler works in a variety of printmaking techniques and also textiles dyed with natural materials.

The artists that comprise Clay Works, the Museum’s resident pottery group, includes Karen Blynn, Jean Fletcher, Pamela Reid, and Robin Ziek. Each potter creates ceramics through multiple methods such as using the potter’s wheel, slab rolling, or hand building.  They experiment with glazing, stamping, and firing methods, so each piece is truly distinct.

In addition to the Museum’s many talented artists, a few other local artists from the community will also have crafts made in a variety of media for sale too.  Every item on display and for sale is unique and individually crafted by an artist who puts their heart and soul into making something special for everyone on your gift list.
