Camp JCC: Specialty Camps for Creative and Performing Arts

Presented by Bender JCC of Greater Washington at Bender Jewish Community Center of Greater Washington

Specialty and traditional camp sessions run June 25-August 10. Additional traditional, week long sessions start June 18, continue the week of August 13 and end the week of August 24. Before and after care are also available.

Omanut/Creative Arts/Entering Grades 1-3/4-7

Draw, paint, sculpt, design-be creative, express yourself and have oodles of fun in our enhanced art specialty camp program.  Guided by expert artists, campers enjoy the creative process and showcase their art at the end of each session.  Instructional and recreational swim in our newly renovated outdoor pools.

Habimah/Theater Arts/Entering Grades 2-4/ 5-7

Learn the craft and magic of acting, dancing and singing from a faculty of experienced theater arts specialists.  Activities may include improv, playwriting and set design.  Campers perform live on stage in our state-of-the-art theater.  Recreational swim in our newly renovated outdoor pools.

Specialty Camps/Entering Grades 3&4/5&6

Camp JCC is again partnering with industry leaders so our campers can have it all!  Children have the unique opportunity to spend part of the day in a specialty camp program and the other part led by our awesome Camp JCC staff enjoying the fun camp activities we all know and love. Specialties may include circus arts, cooking, dance, outdoor adventures, science and technology, tennis, triathlon and woodworking. Camp JCC activities may include swim, arts, sports, music, dance, field trips and more to round out each amazing day. This is simply the best of both worlds!  Below is a list of specialties to choose from.

Big Top Stars

Let your children run away to join the circus- at camp! Circus arts teaches children the benefits of hard work and self-reliance while building self-confidence and improving camper coordination and balance.  Campers will learn juggling, tumbling, clown skills, acrobatics and much more from skilled circus coaches in a safe and friendly environment.  The session ends with a circus showcase for their friends.

Culinary Creations

Everyone loves to be creative in the kitchen!  Come cook with Camp JCC.  Campers will prepare, cook, and eat their amazing creations.

 Dance to the Music

Professional dance instructors offer a creative and fun program to engage campers in a variety of dance styles.

Drones!

Camp JCC and Drobots Company partner to guide your camper through the thrill of operating drones.  Campers are encouraged to develop new skills using drones to pitch, roll, yaw and rotate. This is an interactive learning environment in the highest sense!

Game Design with CodeAdvantage

Imaginations soar as campers learn Kodu, a visual programming language, to tell stories, solve problems and create unique and personalized games.  They won’t notice they are learning valuable coding skills!

“I Made It Myself” Jewelry Making

Cultivate your child’s creativity through the arts.  Campers will design and create a wide range of jewelry with a variety of materials.

Lego®Engineering Challenge

Lego ® enthusiasts will team up with Lego® professionals from Play-Well TEKnologies.  Campers will spend a half day honing their engineering, gearing and motoring education through Leo® building.

Outdoor Adventure

Our adventurers and experienced instructors will stretch their legs and minds while exploring the outdoors.  If your campers like hiking, canoeing, rafting, or ziplining, and an overnight, this camp is for them!

STEM

This is an exceptional opportunity to work with MdBio Foundation to learn about science and our environment. It is a hands-on program with professionals that engages inquisitive minds as they run experiments.  Included is a week-long project working in MdBio’s “STEM Truck”.

Tennis Anyone?

Join us at Georgetown Prep for positive and encouraging skill development by qualified tennis instructors.

 Triathlon Training

Get a gentle and encouraging introduction to the world of triathlons.  Campers will swim, bike, run and gain the healthy habits and self-confidence that result from being a triathlete. Short distances expose campers to the basic elements of a triathlon and foster a healthy lifestyle with a sense of accomplishment.

Wood Shop

This program offers time for exploring and reinforcing woodworking crafts, teaching your camper real life skills that will serve them for decades to come.  Campers will hammer, drill, and saw to their hearts’ content under the supervision of woodworking instructors.  Campers will use their hands and minds to build and express themselves in a safe and fun environment.
