Encore Community Stories Screening: Short Documentaries on Local Topics

Encore Community Stories Screening: Short Documentaries on Local Topics

Presented by Docs In Progress and Takoma Park Arts at Takoma Park Community Center

Did you miss seeing our Shorts Showcase I in November at the Community Stories Festival at the AFI Silver? You have another opportunity since we will be showing the films again in Takoma Park. These short documentaries are about people, places, and happenings in from our local community.

They include films both by professional filmmakers and by first-time filmmakers in Docs In Progress' adult education video production workshops. Come meet the filmmakers and some of the folks featured in the films. Film topics include profiles of local barbers, luthiers, and muralists; unique places like a medical museum and a place where spring rolls mean a lot more than a quick bite; do-gooders fighting food deserts and providing food and dignity to the homeless, young people fighting for immigration reform and a place at the chess tournament table; and two people who balance public service with music.
