Cathy Abramson’s oil paintings investigate the stories of the city in “Cityscapes.”
Cathy Abramson's oil paintings investigate the stories of the city in “Cityscapes.” These representational paintings examine the emotional subtext of change and the connections or estrangement of people in transitional neighborhoods. She sees moments of poetry in the ordinary. Capturing those moments highlights the joys and frustrations of the urban rhythm and the vitality of contemporary life. The paintings in this exhibit are based on scenes in Washington, DC, Baltimore and Bethesda. Abramson's focus is on the narrative of change, the change in people's lives in the city and the changing facade of the urban landscape.
