Karen Ashbrook & Paul Oorts will present “wonderfully energetic and exquisitely arranged collaborations” – The Washington Post. Their performance on several unusual folk instruments will be engaging and instructive!
With hammered dulcimer, harp, guitar, button accordion, and wooden flute, KA/PO – Karen Ashbrook & Belgian multi-instrumentalist, Paul Oorts, play a delightful travelogue of old and new music ranging from the French court of Louis XIV, to the guild dances in the Flemish countryside, Irish ceilis, and Parisian cafes!
They have joined forces in 1996, musically and soon after matrimonially, performing and teaching at festivals around the USA as a duo and individually. Their earlier recording was Celtic Cafe on the Maggie's Music. The Flemish Journal's remark: "We should be very grateful to them for introducing our traditional music to Americans...we cherish this brilliant CD."
Lily Chang, pianist , will perform European music with Asian influence.
