With its witty plot and scintillating melodies, Franz Lehar’s operetta The Merry Widow has delighted audiences for over a century! VLOC presents this fully staged production in English with full orchestra and supertitles.
While touring Europe, the fabulously wealthy widow Hanna Glawari of the minor European nation of Pontevedro, reunites with her former lover, Count Danilo. They still love one another, but Danilo’s pride won’t let him propose for fear of being branded a fortune hunter. The sparring between the two lovers drags in everyone around them, from embassy staff to the locals. And to complicate matters, their little nation’s economic future hangs on the outcome!
