Singer-Songwriter Concert Series: Laura Cantrell

Singer-Songwriter Concert Series: Laura Cantrell

Presented by Arts on the Green at Arts Barn

Nashville-born, New York-based country music artist Laura Cantrell uses her clear, purposeful voice to illuminate her stories and pull you in so you just want to listen to more. Her music has been celebrated in The New York Times, “O” Magazine, Elle, and the Wall Street Journal, and has been featured on NPR’s “All Things Considered,” and “Weekend Edition.” She has performed on “A Prairie Home Companion,” “Mountain Stage” and the “Grand Ole Opry,” and appeared on “Late Night with Conan O’Brien” and Sundance Channel’s “Spectacle: Elvis Costello.”

Her most recent release, Laura Cantrell at the BBC, compiles the best of her UK radio performances from 2000-2005, tracing the arc of her rise as an Americana artist on the airwaves of the British Broadcasting Corporation.

With Siobhán O'Brien
Hailing from Limerick, Ireland, she’s recently settled in the U.S. She’s no stranger to the states, though, having toured there, as well as in Europe. She’s released six albums, including the most recent self-titled CD. When Paddy Moloney of The Chieftains says hers is “A voice the world should hear,” pay attention. With a hint of Alanis Morissette, her strong voice with a lush vibrato can soar over a pop arrangement in one number and in the next, soften enough to sing a traditional folk number like Sandy Denny.
