Session 1: Picture-Writing: Hieroglyphics, Cuneiform, Word Art
Mankind's prehistoric invention of writing was a long struggle. Grammar in speech was influenced by attempts to document ideas, wishes, and dreams: a cultures writing affected how they spoke and thought. Explore pictures, word signs, and letter forms from ancient civilizations of Middle Eastern Mesopotamia and Egypt. Draw and paint using pictures that spell words—the oldest syllabaries and alphabet signs in the world. No prior experience necessary.
5/30-6/27

Session 2: Modern Illumination Capitals
Come and create a story within a fanciful and lively handmade alphabet! Students are guided in developing their own concise, visually dynamic illuminated letters.
