WELCOME TO OUR 130TH ANNUAL INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION
Today’s events are planned, directed, and financed mainly by the efforts of the all-volunteer Takoma Park Independence Day Committee, with the cooperation of the Departments of the City of Takoma Park and the Mayor and Council.

FIREWORKS REPLACED THIS YEAR
Unfortunately due to construction at Takoma Park Middle School, it is not possible to have fireworks there this year. The Takoma Park Independence Day Committee explored all other possible sites for fireworks in or near Takoma Park, including other local school sites, and were not able to find a solution with sufficient clearance to safely set off fireworks and host fireworks viewing. We regret that there will not be fireworks in Takoma Park, but would like to assure you that we explored all the possible options before making this change.

Assembly of Parade Units
Streets close around Assembly Area and Parade Route.
10:00 am
Parade will begin at the intersection of Carroll and Ethan Allen Avenues, travel South on Carroll Avenue, turn right on Maple Avenue, and continue to Ritchie Avenue where it will disband. Parade units will be judged throughout the line of march rather than at the reviewing stand. Click the Parade button above for more information.

- EVENING PROGRAM -
This year, please join the Takoma Park Independence Day Committee on the evening of July 4th for a block party in celebration of Independence Day!
With live music, food trucks, a beer & wine garden, children's activities, vendors, and more, join us for our 130th Celebration - a Party in the Streets of Takoma Park, on Maple Ave in front of the Takoma Park Community Center (7500 Maple Ave).
The evening program begins at 7pm with the Takoma Park Community Band performing a patriotic selection of classical, popular, and show tunes, followed by our national anthem and a Takoma Park Police Color Guard
... and then MO'FIre! Where the sounds of Motown ignite with the Elements of the Universe - they'll keep the party going on the streets of Takoma Park with the music of The Temptations, Smokey Robinson, Same Cooke Chaka Khan, Patti LaBelle, Diana Ross - and of course - legends Earth, Wine & Fire!
Program runs from 7:00-9:30pm, block party on Maple Ave from Philadelphia to Sherman Ave.
