This documentary reveals daily life in the Palestinian village Nabi Saleh and in its nearby Israeli settlement Halamish. A panel discussion with Q&A will follow the free showing.
ABOUT THIS 52-MINUTE FILM: Interviews feature residents of both communities. Every Friday – for three years – the people from Nabi Saleh march through tear gas and rubber bullets towards the other side. Tensions rise. Mustafa Tamimi, a young man from Nabi Saleh, gets shot and killed. A year later, the filmmakers return to show their footage to the residents. The reactions in each community were recorded and are included in the final 55-minute documentary. In January 2018, Israel declared Nabi Saleh a “closed military zone,” cutting off all entrances and exits. Nabi Saleh is the hometown of Ahed Tamimi, the young Palestinian teenager arrested and jailed along with her young cousin for slapping an Israeli soldier who was in her own yard. “Free Ahed” became a rallying cry for activists the world over, and she was released from prison in July. “You will never get as close to the main obstacle of the Palestinian-Israeli contemporary peace process [as you do with this film portrait].” --- Review at Rotten Tomatoes.com.
