The Glen Echo Park Partnership presents a Roaring 20’s dance with Halley Shoenberg’s Revival Jazz Band! Join us in the Spanish Ballroom for a night of Swingin’ Jazz Age music for dancing and listening. The band will mainly play music that is good for Swing, Charleston, and Foxtrot, but don't be surprised if you hear a few other Jazz Age styles. Vintage party attire is encouraged but not required.

The fine instructors from Flying Feet Enterprises will teach a beginner Swing dance lesson, along with some Charleston basics, from 8 - 9 pm. Tonight there will also be a bonus lesson during the first band break, which will focus on dance styles of the Jazz Age. All lessons are included in the cost of admission. No partner or prior experience needed. Live music runs until midnight.

Halley Shoenberg has been playing clarinet and saxophone for dances at Glen Echo Park for 20 years, most recently with her own group, “Halley’s Hot Gumbo Swingtet,” the Tom Cunningham Orchestra, the Craig Gildner Big Band and Shannon Gunn and the Bullettes. For nine years Halley played Glen Echo Sunday tea dances with the La Salle Dance Orchestra, which focused on 1920's and 30's ballroom dance music and she acquired the music from that group to perform with her 11-piece Revival Jazz Band. She also learned to dance the dances such as Lindy Hop, Charleston, Blues, Salsa and Tango and likes to dance during band breaks or go out for an evening of dancing. She pulls together some of the finest DC area musicians for lively music events.
