Open Explore - Family Design Challenges

Open Explore - Family Design Challenges

Presented by KID Museum at KID Museum

It’s a special Thanksgiving Weekend family Open Explore! Drop-in anytime, 10am-5pm, to take on design challenges with the whole family. No registration required.

– This to There: Launch, roll, push, pull… Build an invention that can move an object from one location to another. Use the engineering design process as you test and improve your invention.
– All-Inclusive Playground: Plan and prototype playground equipment that is designed for users with different needs. Add your playground invention to a communal KID playground.
– Bridge Engineer: Create a bridge that can span a distance and bear a load. We’ll be keeping track of whose bridge can hold the most weight.
– Inventioneering: Use a human-centered design approach to improve a household item or to design a new one! Use scroll saws, cardboard, and other materials to prototype your invention.
… and more!

KID Museum is open to the public on the weekend with workshops in our Maker Studios, Open Build time, and over a dozen Open Explore activities. Each weekend offers something new, providing unique hands-on learning experiences designed and facilitated by our professional Maker Educators and a team of Apprentices.
