Celebrated steelpan phenoms Victor Provost and Josanne Francis take you on an international journey that explores steelpan music from all hemispheres and the role of the percussive powerhouse in everything from jazz to Hindustani music.
The sounds of the steelpan may conjure images of a sunny day in the Caribbean, but this versatile instrument is capable of a wide spectrum of genres and moods.
Provost is a dazzling soloist whose improvisational voice and style earned him honors as “Jazz Percussionist of the Year” by Washington City Paper six years running and praise for his most recent album, Bright Eyes.
Francis, known for her unique mix of Calypso, jazz, Indian, funk, rock and classical styles, is an alumna of Strathmore’s prestigious Artist in Residence program and has performed at the Kennedy Center, Carnegie Hall, and numerous festivals around the world. Together Provost and Francis bring a diverse blend of genres to the AMP stage, rarely seen for the steelpan.

There are 2 available parking garages at AMP, including a new one on Trade Street. Valet parking will also be available for a $5 fee. The Old Georgetown Road Garage, located at 11580 Old Georgetown Road, North Bethesda, MD 20852, is directly beneath AMP. The best way to enter the garage is by making a right turn directly into the garage from westbound Old Georgetown Road (between Grand Park Avenue and Executive Blvd). Follow the signs to the AMP elevator and go directly to level 4. The new Trade Street Garage is located at 11860 Trade Street, North Bethesda, MD 20852, right across from AMP and adjacent to the Per Sei apartments. Both are very convenient to the venue.
