Join the The Word Works and The Writer’s Center for an evening of poetry, featuring Le Hinton and Linda Pastan! Café Muse opens at 7pm with refreshments and classical guitar by Michael Davis; readings begin at 7:30, followed by a poetry open mic.

Poet, teacher, lecturer, LE HINTON is the author of six poetry collections including, most recently, Sing Silence (Iris G. Press, 2018). His work has been widely published and earned him a nomination each for the Pushcart Prize and Best of the Net in 2016. His poem “Epidemic” was honored in 2014 by The Pennsylvania Center for the Book, and his poem "No Doubt About It (I Gotta Get Another Hat)" was selected for inclusion in The Best American Poetry 2014. “Our Ballpark” can be found outside Clipper Magazine Stadium in Lancaster, PA, incorporated into Derek Parker’s sculpture Common Thread.

LINDA PASTAN has published 15 volumes of poetry, most recently Insomnia which won the Towson University Literary Award and A Dog Runs Through It (both W.W. Norton, 2017 and 2018 resp.). Twice she has been a finalist for the National Book Award and once for The Los Angeles Times Book Prize. She taught at American University and was on the staff of the Bread Loaf Writer’s Conference. She is a past Poet Laureate of Maryland and has won numerous awards, including The Radcliffe Distinguished Alumni Award and The Maurice English Award. In 2003 she won the Ruth Lilly Poetry Prize for lifetime achievement. She lives in Maryland.

The Word Works is a nonprofit literary organization publishing contemporary poetry in artistic editions and sponsoring programs for more than 40 years. The Writer’s Center has been hosting literary programs in the DC area since 1976.
