California Guitar Trio & Montreal Guitar Trio

Presented by Strathmore at Music Center at Strathmore

The California Guitar Trio’s fearless multi-genre explorations crisscross the universes of rock, jazz, world music, surf music, and classical music, and “while they may be playing acoustic guitars, the trio has all of the power and intensity of an electric rock band” (Pulse Music). Disciples of the legendary guitarist and teacher Robert Fripp, best known as the lead guitarist of King Crimson, the trio performs in venues large and small, and one of the most exciting things about their concerts—besides the incredible musicmaking—is seeing the astonished reactions of audiences new to their performances.

Hailed as “the hottest guitar ensemble in Canada” (CBC), the Montreal Guitar Trio wins applause around the world with its virtuosity, rigor, creativity, and dynamic stage presence — they are noted for the wit and warmth of their interactions with audiences. "The Montreal Trio's guitars know no limits. They journey along with brio from jazz to classical music, from India to Canada, [with audiences] swept away on the thunder of their strings!" (La Montagne Newspaper, France).
