“Throw Like A Girl” is a quest to understand why American women are often shut out of our national pastime.
Filmed over a decade, this new documentary follows the Dream Team, a group of trailblazing 12-year old girls, who later encounter difficulty continuing with the sport in high school and college. The film uses baseball as a microcosm to examine gender roles and sexism in our society.
Director Cami J. Kidder is a filmmaker, photographer, and editor in Los Angeles who is drawn to athletic and outdoor subjects. She will hold a Q&A with the audience after the screening to get their feedback because the film is still being edited.
The screening is free and part of the City of Takoma Park's "We Are Takoma" arts and culture series. To receive our weekly e-newsletter about upcoming events, you can sign up at https://takomaparkmd.gov/initiatives/arts-and-humanities/arts-newsletter-sign-up/
