First Friday at Artists & Makers Studios

Presented by Artists & Makers Studios at Artists & Makers Studios

Artists & Makers Studios 1 and 2 Present Four Stunning Exhibits at Two Locations
for the Month of February along with Resident Artists’ Open Studios to Browse
(Rockville, MD) – Artists & Makers Studios on Parklawn Drive and Wilkins Avenue in Rockville are featuring four new exhibits for the month of February at two locations. A&M1 Parklawn will host solo exhibits for artists Russell Simmons with Something Old & Something New – examining a career of more than 45 years with work that is kinetic and grounded in the elements of  lines and colors of the African diaspora - unexpected patterns, images, shapes, texture, and collage; Therese Brown’s Baba Yaga’s Garden – a series of wet cyanotype prints on watercolor paper, and lumen prints on Ilford photographic paper. The
garden is muse and mentor. Also at Parklawn, Phyllis Gordon’s solo exhibit Canvas & Silk – brings inspiring views, beautiful flowers, and intimate compositions that capture the moment in paintings and elegant hand painted scarves. A pair of flutists will perform, and enjoy Theremin music throughout the evening by Arthur Harrison in the artist hall. At Wilkins marvel at the work of the Potomac Fiber Arts Guild – Fiber as Form, Form as Fiber – from wall art and quilting to weaving and free-form crochet, there is something for everyone by these talented artists, as well as the Montgomery County Camera Club’s member exhibition, and a new exhibit by the member artists of Gallery 209. With free parking at both locations and the best parties in town, join the crowd for a memorable evening. These exhibits will open First Friday festivities between 6-9pm on February 1st, and artists’ studios will be open for browsing at both locations.
