On April 13 and 14, celebrated figure artist, Susan Lyon, will share her techniques for creating visually and emotionally powerful portraits in a two-day oil painting workshop at the Yellow Barn Studio at Glen Echo Park.
On Saturday, April 13, and Sunday, April 14, the Friends of the Yellow Barn are please to present a workshop with Susan Lyon. In this two-day oil painting workshop, celebrated figure artist Susan Lyon will share her techniques and thought processes for creating visually and emotionally powerful portraits. The class will focus on taking the basics of drawing to the next level as one moves beyond a mere technical rendering of the live model to a true personal expression. Lyon will demonstrate the power of selecting, simplifying, and grouping areas to generate a focus of attention that elevates the ordinary to a vibrant work of fine art.
Each morning Susan will demonstrate and discuss painting from the live model. In the afternoons, students will work from the model while Susan offers individual instruction. The goal of this workshop is to help students add to the language they will need to write their own visual poetry.
$350 for the two-day workshop. The price includes the Saturday evening lecture and reception. Seating is limited and pre-registration is required.
