Seven poets from different Latin American countries will read their original work in Spanish with some English translation, along with a musical performance by Alicia Deeny-Morales and an open mic for local poets.
The featured poets include Ricardo Ballón (Bolivia), Liliana Luppi Dossola (Argentina), Sofía Estévez (Dominican Republic), Vladimir Monge (El Salvador), Silvia Mabel Sahakian de Radwan (Argentina), Alexis Soto Ramírez (Cuba), and Tatiana Figueroa (Puerto Rico). Takoma Park Poet Laureate Kathleen O’Toole will be the emcee for this free event, and a reception will follow the reading where audience members can meet the poets. The event is co-sponsored by We Are Takoma, Alta Hora de la Noche, and Casa de la Cultura El Salvador.
The event is free and no tickets are required. Seating is on a first-come first-served basis.
