Kolot HaLev, the Jewish Community Choir of Greater Washington will present Les Chansons Juives, Portraits of Jewish Music in France on June 2, 2019 4:00 pm, Temple Beth Ami, Rockville, MD
Les Chansons Juives will feature compositions from different French and Jewish liturgical traditions and works by French masters who were Jewish, such as Jacques Halévy and Darius Milhaud, or Christian, such as Georges Bizet and César Franck. Familiar symphonic melodies will become traditional Hanukkah music. Chorales from the Central Synagogue of Paris, plus folk and liturgical music from Bordeaux, Provence, and elsewhere, will celebrate a distinctive Gallic-Jewish key. Joining Kolot HaLev will be the Rochambeau Choir of Washington, DC, led by Simon Charette.
Tickets are $20 for adults when ordered on-line at www.kolothalev.org ($25 at the door) and $10 for students and children. (Temple Beth Ami is fully accessible.)
