at Christ Episcopal Church

North Bethesda, MD, April 5, 2019 The National Philharmonic Singers, under the direction of conductor Stan Engebretson, will present a spring concert on Saturday, April 27 at 8pm at Christ Episcopal Church, Rockville, MD.

The concert will feature Bach’s motet Der Geist Hilft (The Spirit Helps Us) and selections from Mozart’s Vespers. In addition, the Philharmonic Singers will perform Fly to Paradise by Eric Whitacre, We Can Mend the Sky by Jake Runestad, Carly Simon’s Let the River Run, and exciting spirituals.

The National Philharmonic Singers, a chamber choir conducted by Stan Engebretson, is a select group of 25 singers associated with the National Philharmonic in residence at the Music Center at Strathmore. It performs throughout Montgomery County promoting works suited for smaller ensembles, whether with accompaniment or a cappella.  Its repertoire ranges from 16th to 21st centuries, and it often premieres new compositions by local composers.

In February 2019, the group participated in the Chinese Lantern Festival Gala sponsored by the Shaolin Temple USA Culture Center. In May, the Singers will collaborate with the Strathmore Children’s Chorus and composer Eric Whitacre at the Music Center at Strathmore.

The April 27th concert at the Christ Episcopal Church is free, but donations in support of the Community Ministries of Rockville will be gratefully accepted. The church is located at 109 South Washington Street in Rockville, MD.
