Come one, come all! Our fabulous concert on Mother’s Day is the perfect outing, with or without a mom or kids. We’ll enjoy romantic piano works, a piece for solo oboe, and a trio for piano, violin, and piano by French composer Gabriel Faure.
Pianist Yuri Chayama opens the concert with richly romantic works. Yuri will play a barcarolle and nocture by Chopin, and a "song without words" by Mendelssohn. We turn next to a short contemporary elegy written in memory of a vivacious oboe player - Allen Shawn's Music for Pat. Our performer is Laurel Kuxhaus.
Fun Fact - Allen Shawn is the brother of actor Wallace Shawn. The two collaborated on the film "My Dinner with Andre."
After intermission, the very musical sisters Felicia and Max Weiss, pianist and cellist, join forces with violinist Renee Roberts. They bring us the piano trio by French composer Gabriel Faure. A Paris reviewer praised the piece at its premiere for "the elegant clarity, the equilibrium of thought, and the serenity."
