10 Years of Silver Works: Looking Back and Forward Looking

Presented by Glen Echo Park Partnership for Arts and Culture at Glen Echo Park Popcorn Gallery

The Glen Echo Park Partnership presents “10 Years of SilverWorks: Looking Back and Forward Looking” by SilverWorks Resident Artist Blair Anderson. This exhibition displays a new collection of the silversmith’s works as well as a retrospective of the last nine collections, featuring a piece or photo from each. Anderson’s latest collection is a riff on her last 30 years of work. More than just wearable art, Anderson infuses her work with meaning. Each piece telling a story, making a connection to the potential wearer. Using relics, unconventional materials, as well as beautiful gemstones from around the world, this collection digs deep at the human condition, pokes fun at politicians, tackles social justice and honors science fiction all in beautiful adornments. In addition to student work, the exhibition will feature this year’s Exnihilo Residency Winner Noha Nader. Anderson first opened her studio in November 2009 with just three students in her Silver Saturday workshop. This year – ten years later – SilverWorks will have offered over 100 classes and workshops with a team of 10 instructors.
