Words out Loud features Lindsay Lusby and Susan Okie reading from their poetry.  Includes open mic and literary trivia quiz.  Glen Echo Park\'s visual art studios and galleries will also be open 6-8 PM and offering free refreshment.

Lindsay Lusby’s debut poetry collection Catechesis: a postpastoral (June 2019) won the 2018 Agha Shahid Ali Poetry Prize from The University of Utah Press, judged by Kimiko Hahn. The author of two previous chapbooks and the winner of the 2015 Fairy Tale Review poetry contest, her poems have appeared most recently in The Cincinnati Review, Passages North, The Account, North Dakota Quarterly, and Tinderbox Poetry Journal.

Susan Okie is a physician, poet and former Washington Post medical reporter. She received her MFA in Poetry from Warren Wilson College in January, 2014. Her work has appeared in Prairie Schooner, The Gettysburg Review, The Bellevue Literary Review, the Journal of the American Medical Association, Beltway Poetry Quarterly, and other journals. Her chapbook, Let You Fly, was a 2018 finalist in Finishing Line Press’s New Women’s Voices contest.
