Where Sobriety and Forgiveness Meets and Heals-Book Signing Event

Where Sobriety and Forgiveness Meets and Heals-Book Signing Event

Presented by Barnes and Noble at Barnes & Noble

Gaváta is the local Author who wrote Get Yourself Together First which is a true story about forgiveness and restoration. It encourages addicts to get themselves “together” before trying to restore relationships, all the while still encouraging broken families that they can forgive. Through raw and honest storytelling, Gaváta uncover the lie that broken people feel – isolation and shame, or that they are the only ones going through these things. This book serves as encouragement that forgiveness can happen. If someone has suffered at the hands of an addict physically, mentally or emotionally, or if an addict is trying to figure out how to regain trust and receive forgiveness, this book is a must read. It is encouraged that professionals in the field of addiction recovery also consider reading, understanding and incorporating this view into their therapy and group sessions.

Gaváta is the child of an addict of 24 years (who has been clean since 1999) and the granddaughter of the late Bishop Walter “Sweet Daddy” McCollough, a very prominent figure all throughout all of the United States but especially the entire DMV Areas and East Coast in the 70’s-80’s. (McCollough Circle in Baltimore was named after the late Bishop McCollough and, both he and his wife received Keys To The City)  Gaváta currently attends Calvary Bible Institute and Calvary Leadership Academy both in Washington, DC,  and she’s a four-year graduate of Evangelical Training Association (ETA) with a Leadership in Ministry Degree. She is also an approved teacher through ETA, a Mime and a Motivational Speaker.
