History Happy Hour: One Giant Leap - The Race to the Moon

History Happy Hour: One Giant Leap - The Race to the Moon

Presented by Sandy Spring Museum at Sandy Spring Museum

This History Happy Hour commemorates the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 Mission, and the first moon landing.

In 1961, no one knew how to build rockets or make the space suits necessary to accomplish President Kennedy’s goal of going to the moon. Over the next decade, the scientists and engineers at NASA would make more than 10,000 decisions in the process of inventing space travel. Join us to hear the story of Americans in space as told by award-winning journalist Charles Fishman in his book One Giant Leap.
