Since bursting onto the blues scene at the age of 18, Shemekia Copeland has staked her claim as a force to be reckoned with. Her instantly recognizable voice—capable of being sultry, assertive, and roaring—delivers every song with honesty and passion. It’s no wonder Rolling Stone raves, “Copeland is a powerhouse, a superstar…she can do no wrong.” Copeland’s latest album, America’s Child, ventures beyond blues and into spirited Americana, with elements of rock, soul, and country and includes guest appearances by John Prine, Rhiannon Giddens, Emmylou Harris, and more. The tracks from America’s Child will be a treat to hear in AMP’s warm acoustics.
