This film with live music showcases the Indian celebration of Holi, an annual spring rite that brings devotees by the thousands to the streets in a rhapsodic state of uninhibited, ecstatic freedom, a time when roles are reversed and anything is possible. Jazz pianist and composer Vijay Iyer collaborated with filmmaker Prashant Bhargava to create this multi-media performance for the 100th Anniversary of Stravinsky’s Rite of Spring—in eerie counterpoint to and echo of that mystical celebration of other ancient rites of the season.
