On October 12, 2019 The F. Scott Fitzgerald Literary Conference will present its annual award for Achievement in American Literature to author Amy Tan at the Glenview Mansion in Rockville.
The F. Scott Fitzgerald Literary Conference, Inc. will present its annual award for Achievement in American Literature to award-winning author, Amy Tan. The organization’s 23rd Annual F. Scott Fitzgerald Literary Festival will be held on October 12, at the Glenview Mansion in Rockville, MD, and will include programs over three days in partnership with The Writer’s Center in Bethesda, MD, the Friends of the Library, Montgomery County, MD, and Peerless Rockville. Attending will be F. Scott Fitzgerald Scholars selected from local high schools. The theme of this year’s festival is “Mothers, Daughters, and Families”.
The award ceremony, a reading by Tan and the announcement of the annual F. Scott Fitzgerald Student and Adult Short Story Contest winners will be featured festival events on Saturday, October 12. Special guest, Mark Childress, author and recipient of the Harper Lee Award as Alabama’s Distinguished Writer will participate in “A Conversation with Amy Tan” and introduce Tan for the Fitzgerald Award. The festival will also include a talk by keynote speaker, David S. Brown, author of A Life of F. Scott Fitzgerald (2017).
There will be morning and afternoon workshops in fiction and non-fiction taught by notable authors and a screening of the film The Joy Luck Club. Also, on the schedule is a special workshop for Fitzgerald Scholars and a “Fitzgerald Haunts” bus tour.
