Dance Exchange artists Juliana Pongutá Forero and Sam Horning perform I Object, exploring our relationship to objects throughout time and across spatial, political, and spiritual dimensions at Dance Place on December 7 and 8.
I Object explores our relationship to objects throughout time, and across spatial, political, and spiritual dimensions. Using non-linear storytelling and the surrealist structure of cadaver exquisito, or the exquisite corpse, Juliana and Sam create temporary embodied and constructed worlds that speak to our singular and collective participation amongst a changing material world. Through performance, question asking, and audience engagement, performers and audience will intimately navigate spaces of mess and clutter within and around our bodies and examine emotional and temporal states-of-being, -belonging, and -becoming.
The work will be featured in Dance Place’s Contemporary Viewpoints Festival, which is a curated mixed-bill showcase of boundary-pushing modern dance, presenting a range of work by choreographers from the DMV.
