Legendary jazz performer Charles Lloyd first picked up the saxophone at age 9—more than 70 years ago. Even as he’s gone in and out of retirement, he has never stopped exploring and searching for adventurous collaborations. With his elite ensemble The Marvels (comprised of Marvin Sewell on guitar, Greg Leisz on pedal steel guitar, Reuben Rogers on bass, and Eric Harland on drums) and special guest three-time Grammy-winner Lucinda Williams, he may have just reached his prime. Williams’ masterful storytelling and raw power is elevated by the band’s musicianship, exuding rich emotion as they deftly maneuver through raucous Southern roots, blues, and jazzy rock.
