Nature Matters: Moths and their Adaptations (CANCELED)

Presented by Montgomery Parks at Meadowside Nature Center

What comes to mind when you think of insects with feathery antennas, nocturnal lifestyles, and silky cocoons? Moth species of the Lepidoptera family come with many adaptations, some include not developing a mouth after their caterpillar phase. Join us at zooming into the tiny world of moths where you’ll learn about their marvelous colorful features and sizes up to 12 inches down to micromoths of 0.1 inch. Dr. David Adamski, Research Associate at Department of Entomology of the Smithsonian Institution National Museum of Natural History, will bring various specimens from around the world that will demonstrate their morphology.
