Bel Cantanti Opera presents the world premiere of Briscula the Magician, a new opera with music by Frances Pollock and libretto by Bob Misbin. Briscula is based on the Thomas Mann novella Mario and the Magician, which tells the story of the rise of fascism in italy in 1929. Peter Burroughs performs the title role. WBJC's John Scherch appears as one of the bad guys, known for his bass voice. Performances are at the Randolph Road Theater in Silver Spring on Saturdays and Sundays, March 7th and 8th as well as the 14th and 15th; the Saturday performances begin at 7:30 PM and the Sunday performances begin at 3 PM.
