MOVE! Women's Rights from ISADORA DUNCAN to NOW

MOVE! Women's Rights from ISADORA DUNCAN to NOW

Presented by Word Dance Theater at The Kennedy Center | The REACH | Skylight Pavilion

Join the dancers, actors, and singers of Word Dance Theater in an artful and exuberant celebration of the Suffragist movement from 1920 to now.

In The Kennedy Center's beautiful new Skylight Pavilion, audiences will witness a delicate weaving of Isadora Duncan’s groundbreaking historical dances for social justice from the suffragist period with contemporary dances created by award-winning Duncan choreographer and dancer, Cynthia Word. A live chorus led by virtuoso pianist and music director Carlos Cesar Rodriguez offers emboldening songs of suffragists then and now, and powerful theatrical scenes created from historical and contemporary writings of the women’s movement by Helen Hayes Award nominated playwright Jenny McConnell Frederick tell the stories of the suffragist journey from Votes for Women to #MeToo.
