The Library of Congress calls her “one of the most compelling figures in popular music;” and while she’s distinctly proud of being the eldest daughter of country music icon Johnny Cash and the stepdaughter of June Carter Cash (of bluegrass’s legendary Carter Family), Rosanne Cash has carved out her own fiercely independent career, recording 15 albums that have yielded 21 top-40 hits, including 11 No. 1 singles. She grew up in California, got her musical start in Europe, and has lived for decades in New York, but she has never forgotten her Southern roots, as explored on her critically acclaimed new album The River & The Thread. Showered in superlatives by music critics, Cash’s original songs for the album, created with her husband John Leventhal, are “captivating, haunting…among the finest of her career” (USA Today). In her Strathmore performance, Cash and her band perform songs from The River & The Thread along with her other memorable music.
