Art + Study Hall is a weekly daytime program designed to provide parents with a flexible and safe option for the days when their children are engaging in distance learning and parents must return to work.
Art + Study Hall will provide socially distanced space for up to 8 children (less than 50% capacity for the studio) to complete their daily school distance learning, monitored by a CREATE staff member and teaching artist. CREATE will provide daily art instruction as well, with the timing to be determined by the schedule of each child’s live online classes. A mid-day lunch period will include a break for indoor/outdoor recreation.
Throughout each day (with the exception of the art lesson), students will be expected to INDEPENDENTLY work on their daily school work via online lessons, packets, etc. Students will need to bring their own laptops or tablets and headphones (with built-in microphones if the student will be participating in a live interactive online class) from home. Staff members will be on hand to monitor the children and provide (very) minor assistance with their work (i.e. help sounding out an unfamiliar word, explain a basic math problem). Staff will NOT be teaching academic lessons.
