International Talk Like a Pirate Day

Ahoy Mateys! We 'ave an excitin' line-up o' programs 'n activities fer all th' pirates 'n pirates-in-trainin' out thar!

10:00   Make a pirate hook - wha' happens when a crocodile snaps yer hand off? Ye be goin' t' needs a hook! Here's how t' make one. SUPPLIES: a 16 ox plastic or paper cup. One large piece of aluminum foil.

10:30   Make and eye patch - Every pirate needs an eye patch! SUPPLIES: a Styrofoam tray (like the ones used for meat and vegetables) and ribbon. Also scissors.

11:30   Helen Docherty will be LIVE reading from her new book Pirate Nell’s Tale to Tell.  Books can be order at https://www.anovelbookshop.com/gaithersburg-community-museum or your favorite bookstore.

In addition we will be posting videos of joke telling pirates and articles on pirate history throughout the day.
