Roosevelt Dime

Presented by BlackRock Center for the Arts at BlackRock Center for the Arts

When Appalachian strings made romance with New Orleans rhythms, one of the world’s most infectious beats was born. Roosevelt Dime, a five-piece Brooklyn-based band, takes listeners on a journey through the whole of American roots music…from Americana and Memphis soul to “Mardi-Grass”—a bedrock of New Orleans rhythms that brings driving, melodic banjo, fat-back blues guitar, pure honky-tonk harmonies, and deliciously dirty R&B vocals along for the ride.  It makes for a groove so inspired The New York Times has called Roosevelt Dime “a perpetual crowd pleaser.”  After years of thrilling audiences at festivals and venues across the country, the band has captured the energy and musicianship of their live performance on their newest CD—Full Head of Steam—where their expert songwriting and stirring vocal harmonies shine through as brilliantly as in their electric live shows. Dime has performed at the Philadelphia Folk Festival and Caramoor American Roots Music Festival, and was selected as an Emerging Artist showcase winner at the 2013 Falcon Ridge Folk Festival. Don’t miss their debut at BlackRock this year.
