Please join Takoma Park Arts to celebrate Black History Month with the online premiere of rare short vintage films featuring the remarkable talents of Black musicians and artists spanning half a century. Vintage Movie Night host Richard Hall has curated a compelling collection of short films, including 1940s newsreels, musical scenes starring Duke Ellington and Bessie Smith, a history of jazz, profiles of famous Black artists, and much more. Most of the films have been restored by the Library of Congress so don’t miss this chance to see and hear how Black musicians and artists have shaped American history.
You can learn about all of our upcoming Takoma Park Arts events and sign up for our weekly e-newsletter at takomaparkmd.gov/arts. The arts keep us connected even when we're apart.
