Each class builds strength and flexibility through floor work, barre, and locomotor motifs followed by improvisations and choreographic studies inspired by the philosophy and technique of Isadora Duncan.
Are you seeking classes to find or re-gain the joy of movement, as well as deepen in a movement practice? Word Dance Theater offers classes taught by Duncan Master Teacher, Cynthia Word. The Duncan technique stresses expressivity, creativity, musicality, and the beauty of the human form. It is a fusion of body, mind, and spirit fueled by beauty, strength, and freedom. In each class we build strength and flexibility through our floor work, barre, and locomotor motifs followed by improvisations and choreographic studies inspired by the philosophy and technique of Isadora Duncan.
This fall, Word Dance Theater will offer a full session of in person classes, so long as it is safe to do so. In person classes will be physically distanced and will adhere to mask guidelines while maintaining the integrity of the Duncan technique and philosophy. Classes will run for 12 weeks, from September 21 through December 14 (no class on Nov. 23). Drop-in class option or registration for full session available.
Open to movers of all interests and backgrounds, prior dance experience not required.
