A prime opportunity to experience a ride on the streetcars of yesteryear and view the works of local artist, Martina Sestakova, a participant in the Arts Council’s “Art Happens Here” campaign.
Martina Sestakova's work entitled "One Wild Precious Life" has been proudly displayed on a banner in the Main Hall since August. Martina explains that the title is from a line from Mary Oliver's poem, "The Summer Day." It is about positive energy and celebrating being alive. Her work was submitted to the Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County's "Art Happens Here" competition and was selected by the Council and by the Trolley Museum to be displayed at the Museum. To celebrate participation in this program, the Trolley Museum is presenting the 'One Wild Precious Life' banner and other works by Martina at a special event on October 17. The event is free to the public and refreshments will be available. In addition to viewing Martina's work, take a docent led tour of Main and Streetcar Halls. Finish up with an antique streetcar ride on the 2-mile demonstration railway. Celebrate Art, Celebrate Being Alive!
