Save the trees, ecosystem, and this special cultural resource during a volunteer workday at Oakley Cabin African American Museum.
This non-native, invasive plant management workday will be led by a specially-trained volunteer Weed Warrior Supervisor and it’s a great way to start learning how to identify and remove invasive plants! We will be focusing on non-native, invasive vines and shrubs.
Volunteers should wear long pants that cover their ankles, long sleeves, and sturdy, closed-toed shoes. They should also bring gloves, pruners, small folding hand saws, and/or loppers if you have them. Gloves and tools are available to borrow if you don’t have your own. No power tools or machetes are allowed. Please bring water to drink.
No advance training is required for volunteers.
All volunteers must register online and complete a COVID waiver in advance. Volunteers must be over the age of 18. Volunteers who are 14 years and older must be accompanied by an adult and may participate with permission from a parent/guardian and must bring a signed COVID waiver.
