Presented by Flying V Theatre at Silver Spring Black Box Theatre

Learn Kamishibai creation and performance with award-winning multidisciplinary artist Natsu Onoda Power. Kamishibai is a style of Japanese pre-cinema entertainment, in which a solo performer tells stories using illustrated placards. In this workshop, we will learn from the traditional techniques of kamishibai, adapting it for our era. Participants will craft their own kamishibai-inspired multimedia performances.

Bio: Natsu Onoda Power specializes in adapting non-dramatic texts into new works of visual theater. Sometimes, she also directs plays, designs sets, and makes crafty objects. She is a Professor of Theater and Performance Studies at Georgetown University.
