It is great for students who took Acting 101 in the Fall but is also open to new students. Acting technique classes help students gain confidence while encouraging flexibility and risk-taking. Through a variety of fun exercises and text-based explorations, students build their understanding of the actor’s process while creating a character and rehearsing a scene. Character-building focuses on creating specific and truthful actions for the stage. In scene work, students are challenged to be ‘in the moment,’ create believable relationships with other characters on stage, and incorporate tactics to accomplish a specific objective within a scene. Student work culminates in scenes presented during an end-of-semester final sharing.
