Sarod and Tabla Concert of Hindustani Classical Music
The Gandhi Memorial Center invites you to attend a musical event highlighting the unique and compelling sounds of the sarod and tabla by renowned instrumentalists Soumya Chakraverty and Debu Nayak. The sarod is a fretless stringed instrument, thought to originate from the Afghan Rabab, with a skin head like a banjo and an extended air chamber under the fingerboard, which produces a unique depth of sound. The tabla is the best-known classical Indian percussion instrument, consisting of a pair of hand drums capable of a wide variety of sounds.
