Within the new works, Vian Borchert ponders on our times, and reflects on life through her art.

Through her latest work, Borchert reflects on herself as an artist and how the world with its current news and major developments that the global village is facing have an impact on her art. As a working artist of many years with her art inspiring both beginners and established artists alike, Borchert sees that her painterly marks seem to touch so many lives positively. With her latest "Metropolis" series presented in the "Essence" exhibition, Vian illustrates her love for architecture through her unique painterly and abstract aesthetics. The artist continues working with the violet color that she single-handedly worked with last year which coincidentally became the color of the year for 2022. In the latest "Metropolis" series, Borchert falls back on the architect within her, and she reveals to the world one of her biggest and hidden passions which is architecture. The work is a visual lover letter to one of the cities that houses some of the best architecture in the world, NYC. The painterly emphasis through brush strokes along with a sense of mist highlight dreamy takes of walks taken through the city admiring its dynamic essence and architecture; and thus transporting Borchert's journey through the arts and to the world via the artist's eye. The work acknowledges the historical architecture of some of the city's best known landmarks such as the Flatiron building and the Empire State Building, while the state of mist, fog and haze do contribute metaphorically to the uncertainty of the road ahead and the unpredictability of the future. The color violet which connects two colors blue and purple evinces the sense of harmony and hope that are needed to carry on living through tumultuous times.
The artist intended through this work to ask: What is the essence of our being? While reflecting upon how each individual's essence has an impact on another. The essence of Borchert's identity as an artist is delivered to the audience upon them viewing her work in which Vian aims for the viewer to feel a sense of peace, hope and re-energy along with a positive uptick to their lives.
The exhibition also presents some of the artist's quintessential and signature paintings spanning through these uncertain times.
