Stories That Matter, Stories That Move

BlackRock Center for the Arts, providing opportunities to explore, celebrate and engage in the arts, will host of “Stories That Matter, Stories That Move,” a film festival of animated adaptations of Reynolds’ best-selling picture books being presented by his educational non-profit, Reynolds Center for Teaching, Learning & Creativity ( This film festival, in association with The Gaithersburg Book Festival, will be held Sunday, May 22, 2022, with creativity workshops for Ages 6+ beginning at 12:00 PM.

Perfect for the whole family, the animated film shorts, co-produced by Scholastic Weston Woods and FableVision Studios, feature award-winning adaptations of many of Reynolds' best-selling picture books, including The Dot, Ish, Sky Color, Be You!, Say Something!, and The Word Collector. Reynolds will host the film festival and greet guests with a book signing after the show.

Children and their parents from 135 elementary schools in Montgomery County will be offered the opportunity to land one of the limited seats at this one-show-only event. This event, as well as other area appearances by Reynolds over the weekend, were made possible in part by the generous support of Educational Systems Credit Union and Lafayette Federal Credit Union.
