Los Pleneros de la Cresta are a Puerto Rican ensemble that sustain the musical traditions of bomba y plena to audiences near and far. The group brings new songs to the traditional repertoire, while maintaining respect for the bomba and plena musicians before them, in order to attract younger audiences to the music. The group’s performance at Sandy Spring Museum is part of a tribute to Héctor “Tito” Matos—a legend of bomba and plena music and mentor to Los Pleneros de la Cresta—who passed away in January 2022.
