Sharp Street Church 200th Anniversary Celebration Dinner

Sharp Street Church 200th Anniversary Celebration Dinner

Presented by Sandy Spring Museum at Sandy Spring Museum

Celebrate and honor the 200th anniversary of Sharp Street United Methodist Church, the first independent Black church in Montgomery County. Enjoy a catered dinner, an intimate choral performance, and an exhibit displaying important objects from Sharp Street Church’s storied history.  This event is open to the entire community.  Meet your neighbors and connect with friends, old and new.
This event will be catered by Caribbean Caterers.
What began in a log cabin to serve a small congregation, Sharp Street Church is the oldest African American Church in Montgomery County.  Serving as a pillar of the community for 200 years, Sharp Street Church is often referred to as “the heart of the neighborhood.” In addition to its spiritual role, the church stands as a reminder of the neighborhood’s large and vibrant Black community that has lived in Sandy Spring for generations.
For accommodation requests, please contact the museum via email or at 301-774-0022.
